in the world of firsts {haircut}

It feels good to blog something personal again.  I had a blast last winter blogging lots of personal goodies, but this summer just seemed so full that I never really had to time to do many “just for fun” posts.  Lots are coming though.  Here is one to catch you up on my pint sized cuteness that is now WALKING around the house!

He was sitting up on Brett’s shoulders a couple weeks back and his hair was crazy looking…so I proceeded to make it look even more crazy and then took a picture.  (of course.)  I couldn’t believe how LONG his hair had gotten??!  It was time for a cut…nothing against mullets.  It was just time.

I know my friend Jessica who cuts MY hair is shaking her head right now.  I cut my kids hair, and most often they look pretty dorky for a week or so when I finish.  I am not very good at it, but it gets the job done. It beats what Brett would like to do to our boys hair to save some money, which is to buzz it off instead.  Yeah, you heard me.  He wants to BUZZ off all their beautiful hair!!!  (Have you seen my Adin’s curls???!)  No thanks.  Mama will just learn to cut boys hair….and so that is what I have tried to do for the past 5 years.

So sweet little Gabe got his first cut, and he did really well.

I quickly realized that he wanted to eat the apron, but he was eating hair instead.

Then he started to get ansy so I pulled a trick out of my bag…a bowl of raisins. That kept him busy.  (I love how he has his foot propped up on his baby pool.)

At least until he shoved them all in one bite.  :)

I thought the end result was OK! He doesn’t look too goofy. I didn’t take off any huge chunks, ears or anything. :)   Good to go!
