us {in action!}

We photograph people and places year round, but rarely do you see us “doing what we do.” Inevitably, we manage to snag a few shots of one another throughout the year while working; sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. We walk in front of the camera, we’re waiting for the other to finish that pose, all I see is his butt in front of my lens, or he makes me stand for a lighting test….over and over again. The folder of “in-action” photos began like this, and now we love looking back over the years of us working.

So here we are below doing what we love–lost in the moment of that perfect shot, sometimes (most times) looking absolutely ridiculous. I now know I talk with my hands, dress like I’m homeless when I’m cold, and blink. Often.

These photos are from 2011 and 2012. If the song sounds familiar, yes, it was used in the past. It hurts my musical soul to repeat a song, but it fit just right, and I didn’t have hours to dedicate to finding another. And you just can’t go wrong with The Kinks.

Oh! And the first photo doesn’t have us in it, but it made me laugh. It’s a behind the scenes look at a bridal room I set up to get a perfectly lit dress shot. The things we do to get it right! ;)

To each and every one of you that allowed us in to document a small piece of your life, we thank you. We feel so blessed to work with such wonderful families and couples! We really have the best clients around.

*much love*

ode to the light.

you shine. you shimmer. soft. bright. strong. hot.

you streak. across my back. in my eyes. my hair is set ablaze.

you bring the warmth. bundled and cold, your presence is my shining glimmer of hope.

sometimes I can’t find you…you’re subtle. quietly, working your magic.

effortlessly, easily, you break through the absence. any void. all darkness.

you gleam.

and this is the reason why I watch. it was written deep within me, an inborn nature, it’s where my eye is led.

intuitively my soul wanders, mingles, and seeks the place that feels right,

and then in an instant, a signal, shutter closes, and I steal it away claiming it as mine.

LIGHT.

every photograph I’ve witnessed, these pieces of paper laying around, every face I never knew that came before…

every moment captured,

those precious documentations,

are simply due to you.
